Youth Classes
Basic Technique for Young Actors (Ages 10 to 12)

First Class meets July 11, 2018
Wednesdays 4-5 pm $245 for 6 weeks
Explore all aspects of acting for the stage, with special focus on improvisation, monologues, plus discovering and using your voice. Learn how to project your voice with clarity and build confidence, skill and trust through fun improvisational exercises and pre-scripted and original monologues.
Basic Technique for Teenagers (Ages 13 to 17)

Wednesdays 5-6:30 pm $245 for 6 weeks
We believe that the right way to start acting is to focus on learning the techniques and principles of the craft. This class features exercises that cultivate the imagination, the use of senses, and expression of voice and body. Each student is encouraged to access his or her own uniqueness and point-of-view. Catherine Banks fosters a creative and safe environment for those explorations.
Basic Acting Technique

Learn the foundation of the actor's craft with a range of exercises developed by legendary acting teachers Sanford Meisner and Lee Strasberg. Develop your senses and imagination by practicing monologues and acting in scene work with classmates.

Intermediate Technique and Scene Study

Tuesday 7:30-10:30 pm $445 for 12 weeks
You’ll start each class with a relaxation exercise that creates a sensitive awareness of the body and opens up your imagination. Learn how to build a believable character by taking risks and making choices. Refine your technique on stage in scenes and monologues.
Advanced Acting Technique and Scene Study

Monday 7-11 pm $295 for 6 weeks
Here’s your chance to build on acting fundamentals established through study or prior experience. You’ll experience new exercises, with emphasis on exploring the tools of acting to find an effective, personalized approach to the craft. We integrate an intensive examination of the physical life of the actor. Individual exercises are encouraged, along with monologues and scenes.
Acting Master Class

Playwriting Workshop
Instructor: Gabrielle Fox
First class meets April 3 2018
Tuesday 7-9 pm $265 for 6 weeks
Learn how to develop a play scene by scene. Students will bring in writing each week and hear their work read out loud. With the aid of in-class writing exercises and guidance for the work brought in each week, one-act plays and full lengths will develop for each playwright. Come discover your voice in a safe environment and watch what develops.
Monologue Performance Workshop with

In this two month monologue intensive, students will rehearse twice a week and present their monologues in an invited presentation.

Summer Performance Workshop with Rachel Jones
In this two month one act intensive, students will rehearse twice a week and present their original one acts written by local playwrights in a weekend presentation open to the public.

Payment Policies:
Admission is rolling, with payment due in full on the first class of the month or first class of the session. To secure your place in a class, you may register in advance by calling 914-286-7680. You will receive by postal mail a registration form to be returned with a 50% deposit enclosed.
Refund/Cancellation Policy for 6-Week Classes and Workshops:
If you cancel your enrollment in a class in advance of 15 days from the start date, you will receive a full refund. Beyond this point we will retain a 10% administrative fee in addition to the charges for any classes attended, up to the second class. Beyond the second class, the entire course fee is non-refundable.
Refund/Cancellation Policy for 12-week Classes and Workshops:
If you cancel your enrollment in a class in advance of 15 days from the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel enrollment less than 15 days in advance of the start date, we will retain a 10% administrative fee in addition to the charges for any classes attended, up to the fourth class. After the fourth class, the entire course fee is non-refundable.
Refund/Cancellation Policy for Monday Adult Classes:
Payment is made month-to-month, and is non-refundable if you cancel your enrollment within the month.
Attendance Policy:
We do not offer refunds for classes you may miss due to illness or other personal reasons. However, if you miss a class, we encourage you to make it up by arranging to attend a class held on a different day. Consult your instructor for further details. Please try to do make-ups within 8 weeks of the missed class. You must be currently enrolled to redeem a make-up class.
Code of Conduct:
We strive to host a classroom environment where all students feel comfortable and derive optimal benefit from our program. If we determine due to circumstances that any student's behavior is not in the best interest of said student’s, or the group's, learning experience, we reserve the right at our discretion to discontinue said student’s participation in the class.
